תקציר

Yahasra.org is a "Data for Good" initiative dedicated to preserving Moroccan Jewish cemetery heritage for a global diaspora. Confronting the physical erasure of Jewish cemeteries in Morocco, the platform processes 32,062 burial records through a dual interface designed for demographic research and community family discovery. To overcome extreme multilingual orthographic variation on the gravestones, the Moroccan Jewish Phonetic Normalizer (MJPN) achieves a 1.81:1 compression ratio, reducing 3,399 spellings to 1,876 roots. This enables robust Location Quotient (LQ) analysis to pinpoint ancestral "rootedness". Finally, to support the platform's community mission, we demonstrate a crowdsourcing feature: an AI-assisted integration using Vision API from different vendors, that allows descendants to easily capture and submit new gravestone photos, empowering users to rapidly expand the archive of vanishing memory.
